Here are some of the common cybersecurity terms we hear in our everyday life. But do we know the actual meaning or definition of those terms?
No…? so lets us have a look at them… ;)

1. Virus or specifically computer virus:
a computer virus is basically a software/ program that can self replicate when executed. if the self-replication is successfully executed on a device, it is termed an infected device. ( Examples: macro, memory resident, boot sector file infector, basically type of virus depends on the action it performs and method through which it propagates)

2. Worm: a worm is a malware that self replicates without human intervention.. :) so a virus needs human intervention but a worm doesn’t. (Examples: Rombertik, Shamoon, Mydoom, etc)

3. Ransomware: a computer virus that can encrypt your data to ask for ransom. Famous ransomware attacks: Wanna cry, BadRabit, GoldenEye, etc)

4. Spyware: another computer virus that spies on your computer for someone else.

5. Trojan: a computer malware that seems to be benign but performs malicious activities on your computer.

6. KeyLogger: a very simple software that records the keys pressed on your computer. can be very dangerous… usually comes through email attachments.

In today’s world, there are always chances of cyberattacks on even the most secured computer systems. Hence educate yourself about cybersecurity and internet usage.
